The Clients – Reloaded

In a world full of catastrophies and and crisis you can’t ride on a smile and a shoeshine all the time. Instead, THE CLIENTS strike up an edgy yet up-beat pose, an almost cartoonesque brashness which is served hot with a twinkle of the eye and a good-natured laugh. This attitude is most prominently heard on the titles SUPERBED or ESTELLE, which dish out common themes as well as biting clichés -leaving a wry smile on the listener's face. THE CLIENTS pay their respect to the godfather of soul by homing into a serious groove zone similar to I’M SUPERBAD. This however doesn't keep them from scrambling it together with a funny story afterwards and calling the resulting concoction SUPERBED.

ESTELLE is all about that classic female stereotype - the blonde bombshell that makes any man goon out on the first date. It is, of course, a trusty old theme which therefore is justly presented with the required dose of musical and literal irony.

The usual fare of contemporary hiphop is avoided as the spoken word parts of ESTELLE and SKYLINE nod to the suave styles of Gil Scott Heron or D’Angelo.

Many other socio-political subjects lurk between the lines -superficiality, mindless consumption, need for self-confidence, or trendy luxury items that secretly create new addictions and dependences throughout society (IPHONE).

But in spite of all this, RELOADED is permeated by a light-heartedness which is all in line with the band and the style it embraces. Especially the song DISCOLOGY is brim-full of life and joy, with shouts that pull everybody off their seats within seconds. The instrumental tunes also share this refreshing sense of adventure. But on the bottom line, everything shares one common denominator: utterly indispensable and uncompromising groove!
